Welcome to Old Tree Cafe, a captivating gem nestled within the heart of Taichung City at No. 35, Pingdeng St, Central District. If you’re searching for a place that seamlessly fuses delicious coffee with an ambiance steeped in nostalgia, look no further. This café offers a truly unique experience that caters to both coffee aficionados and those simply wanting a serene space to unwind.

Upon entering, you are immediately embraced by an enchanting atmosphere that exudes an "old jazz style" vibe. The carefully curated decor tells a story of yesteryears, drawing you in with its vintage charm. It's a cozy haven where natural light pours in through the windows, creating an inviting space to savor a cup of expertly brewed coffee. Imagine sitting beside the window, basking in the warm sunlight during summer, while indulging in a piece of their decadent dessert — pure bliss!

Old Tree Cafe offers a range of expertly crafted beverages, earning praise for its high-quality coffee and selection of delightful desserts. Many patrons rave about the syphon coffee, which promises a perfectly balanced cup that awakens your senses. Tim Lau, a satisfied customer, noted it as a “delicious cup of coffee” with an ambiance that is “quiet” and comforting. Such rich experiences remind us of the magic that a thoughtfully made coffee can deliver.

However, do heed the advice from past visitors: reservations are a must! As Graham Hope mentions, the owner's passion sometimes translates to a touch of crankiness when faced with unreserved guests. Despite this, many like Bernard Cheok have found the atmosphere cozy and welcoming once a reservation is secured. This personalized approach from the owner adds a layer of authenticity and makes each visit feel special.

For those who may not speak Mandarin, it’s recommended to have Google Translate handy, as the owner primarily communicates in Chinese. However, this should not deter you from experiencing the warm and vibrant community that Old Tree Cafe fosters.

In summary, Old Tree Cafe is not just a place to grab a coffee; it's an experience that invites you to relax, reflect, and indulge. Whether you're seeking a quiet corner for your thoughts or a comfortable spot to engage in meaningful conversation, this café promises to wrap you in its enchanting embrace. So make your reservation, settle in, and enjoy a taste of Taichung that you'll remember long after you leave!

Very cool Café, with a kind of "Old jazz style" decoration. Inside you'll find a bar and seats beside windows, especially during summer time, very comfortable place to stay.

Don't show up without reservations! The owner is super cranky and you will not feel the least bit welcome without reservations. Overpriced, no waitstaff, only one barista (the owner)

Quiet coffee spot with old school deco. Syphon coffee as standard , which made for delicious cup of coffee. Expensive by Tai Chung standards, but not as bad as some of the tourist traps around.

Very cosy and friendly cafe with Americano style coffee brewed by the lady owner. Make sure you have Google translate as they don't speak English.

I just happened to find this cafe while looking at goole map. Since I am a Japanese, I got so curious about this place as It reminds me a cafe nearby my late grandmom place. Once I stepped into the place, the lady boss asked me few questions and she mistook me as a hongkong guy due to my look and my mandarin accent. Anyway, since she likes Singapore and I live in Singapore, she kept talking to me. It was a pleasant experience. I would love to come here again.

This place has a relaxing atmosphere and they play good jazz. It has a Taisho-era feel to it. They're expensive, but for my money, they made the perfect cup of blue mountain coffee.
